Anne Marie Fitzgerald profile

My name is Anne Marie Fitzgerald and I am running for the office of Catholic school board trustee in Fort Frances.
I am a homemaker and my husband, Ted, and I have six children. We have lived in Fort Frances for almost 17 years.
I have been a trustee for 12 years and in that time, only have been involved in one election. It is good to see more interest in this coming election in the office of Catholic school board trustee as it is a role I believe is very important and fulfilling.
We are all aware of the difficulty most boards in Ontario had with balancing their budgets this past year. This next term of office also will bring many challenges.
Foremost on our “to do” list as trustees will be to keep the Ministry of Education ever mindful of the unique struggles and challenges we, as schools of the northwest, face with our smaller population and great distances.
Our students deserve no less than an excellent education, and it is our job as trustees to be the voice of these students and to see to it that their needs are met and, indeed, exceeded.
As always, we must strive to maintain the close partnership of home, school, and parish in order to educate in faith.
The Northwest Catholic District School Board has a wealth of excellent administrators, teachers, and staff in whom we should be very proud.
The Catholic trustees’ responsibility is to speak for the needs of the school community and I would be grateful for the opportunity to do so for four more years.
