Animal control bylaw on agenda

After referring the matter back to the Planning and Development executive committee for further study earlier this month, a report regarding Bylaw 12/79 (the Animal Control Bylaw) will come back before council at tonight’s meeting.
The agenda also includes a presentation by local resident Randy Thoms regarding’s the recent review of the current animal control bylaw.
As previously reported, the animal control bylaw was discussed at length during the Aug. 11 council meeting after the bylaw was reviewed by the Planning and Development executive committee in late July, and came back to council with recommendations some members of council felt didn’t adequately address issues such as pet licensing and numbers of pets per household.
This evening’s council meeting is scheduled to start at 6;20 p.m. It will be preceded by the committee of the whole, which will meet downstairs at 5:30, but be in-camera until 5:47.
Other business at tonight’s meeting will include:
•a verbal update regarding local construction projects;
•a recommendation regarding advertising in the 2009 Vacation Guide Maps;
•a recommendation regarding a Memorandum of Understanding with the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce;
•a recommendation regarding a financial request from Northwest Ontario’s Sunset Country Travel Association;
•applications for tax adjustment for 27 properties at Erin Crescent;
•a joint request from Murray and Linda Snider and Philip and Carmen Williamson re: purchase of land;
•bylaws to amend Official Plan Bylaws No. 7/98 and 8/98 (528 Second St. East) to allow for the construction of a new Robert Moore School; and
