Former Fort Frances resident Peter Andrusco will receive recognition for his extensive work and achievements with the Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.
Andrusco, the son of Nick and Mary of Fort Frances, retired June 30 after more than 30 years of membership with the OTF.
He will be presented with the highest Ontario Teachers’ Federation recognition, an honourary life membership, and the first of its kind.
The presentation will take place during the OTF’s summer convention in August in Toronto.
Andrusco had a distinguished career as a classroom elementary teacher across the district, as well as an OTF leader.
Other notables achievements include:
•Upon retirement, he was the second president of the Keewatin-Patricia Elementary Teachers Association.
•In 1999, when a teachers’ strike was to take place, he and his bargaining team were successful in reaching a collective agreement.
•He also negotiated a number of benefits for the local.
•He also belongs to several provincial committees, the pension committee, the budget committee, and the provincial task force, and is a member of the REP council.
