An all-candidates’ forum sponsored by the Fort Frances and District Labour Council, originally scheduled for tomorrow night at the Métis Community Hall, has been cancelled.
“While fully supporting the efforts of the Fort Francs and District Labour Council president [Dale Gustafson] in planning an all-candidates’ forum, the Fort Frances and District Labour Council, at its October meeting, regrettably elected to cancel the event,” read a statement from the labour council.
Gustafson could not be reached for comment prior to press time today.
As first reported in yesterday’s Daily Bulletin, a confirmed seven council candidates (Tannis Drysdale, Andrew Hallikas, Todd Hamilton, Neil Kabel, Paul Ryan, Sharon Tibbs, and Rick Wiedenhoeft) declined to attend the planned debate.
An eighth council candidate, John Albanese, and mayoral candidate Roy Avis also could not attend due to prior commitments.
