The Fort Frances 908 Rainy Lake Air Cadet Squadron held its ninth-annual year-end ceremonial review last Wednesday at the Memorial Sports Centre.
The review is an opportunity to give cadets the recognition they have earned.
Celebrating the completion of a very busy and successful year were 19 cadets.
They not only participated in weekly routine training, but also had the opportunity to take part in marksmanship competitions at local, provincial, and national levels; as well as several survival training exercises and spring gliding at Kakabeka Falls.
The local Air Cadets also participated in several community events, including Legion poppy sales, the Remembrance Day ceremony, Salvation Army Christmas Kettle, and the annual “Fly-in, Drive-in BBQ” at the Fort Frances Airport.
The squadron was honoured this year to have local OPP detachment commander, Insp. Steve Shouldice, as the reviewing officer.

The Air Cadet program gives cadets an opportunity to attend various free summer camps.
Several 908 cadets will be attending the following summer camps: one staff cadet position, one power pilot, three leadership, one basic aviation, one military band, three general training, and one sports instructor.
Although this cadet year has wound down, young people aged 12-19 should consider becoming an Air Cadet in September.
