Local library co-op earns OLSN award

Press Release

The Rainy River District Library Co-operative (RRDLC) has been awarded the Ontario Library Service’s North Technology and Innovation Award.
The award recognizes initiatives that promote library services in Northern Ontario through the use of technology.
The RRDLC has made eBooks available to all students in the district through the public libraries.
It ensures every student has equitable access to resources no matter where they live.
It is a partnership between the Atikokan, Emo, and Fort Frances public libraries, the Seven Generations Education Institute, and the Rainy River District and Northwest Catholic District School Boards.
“The RRDLC is an amazing example of what is possible when organizations commit to the ideal that every student deserves the same access to resources and support in the development of their literacy skills,” said Caroline Goulding, CEO of the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre.
The RRDLC additionally had been short-listed for a 2017 Ontario Public Library Service Award, the Minister’s Award for Innovation.
