The Fort Frances Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary to Br. #29 met last Wednesday (Jan. 10), with 26 members in attendance.
President Alfreda Easton called the meeting to order.
The charter was draped in memory of Winnie Rousseau, who had 29 years of service, and Mildred Lockman, who transferred to our branch and had 16 years of service.
Two new members were initiated: Elaine Sande and Paula Hogan. Welcome ladies!
The installation of Josie Miller as treasurer and Clara Steinke as entertainment committee also were performed.
The membership year-end report for 2017 saw 112 members, eight of which were new, one transfer, eight deceased, and one reinstatement.
Out of these members, we are hoping to fill two very important positions on the executive: secretary and Ways and Means.

Plans are underway for the district meeting being held here April 6-8. Committees are now in place and any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
More info will be discussed at the February meeting.
In other news, four tickets were purchased for the upcoming Alzheimer’s dinner being held here Feb. 3.
Meanwhile, the auxiliary is going to start an afternoon card party. If you’re interested, come and enjoy the first one of 2018, which will be held upstairs at the Legion on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m.
A variety of card games will be played (bring munchies if you would like).
The auxiliary’s monthly supper, featuring pork cutlets and all the fixings, is slated for Friday, Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion (doors open at 4:30 p.m.)
The cost is $16/plate, with take-outs available by calling 274-3772.
A 50/50 draw also will be held that evening.
The December early-bird membership draw winner was Sandy Selin.
The attendance draw was won by Clara Steinke while the birthday draw won by Silvia Gunderson.
The 50/50 winner was Jeanette Cawston.
The next general meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14 starting at 7 p.m. upstairs at the Legion.
