The Fort Frances Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Br. #29 met on March 14 with 35 members in attendance.
President Alfreda Easton called the meeting to order.
An application for membership was received and approved for Joanne Smith.
An initiation also was held to welcome three new members: Shirley Dolph, Carla Krawchuk, and Sabine Drackert.
The executive positions of Secretary and Ways & Means remain vacant. Any member who is interested, or would like further information on these positions, is asked to contact Alfreda Easton at 274-9105.
The district meeting is scheduled for April 6-8 and is being hosted by the Fort Frances auxiliary.
The theme is “The Grammies,” so everyone is urged to wear your best dress/gown or come as your favourite star.
It should be loads of fun!
The evening also will include entertainment and an awards ceremony, along with a photo booth, lottery wreath, and penny table draws.
Auxiliary members are urged to attend (R.S.V.P. to Christina McDougall at 274-7848 by March 20).
Registration is $5, with banquet tickets $25 each.
Registration will be held Friday, April 6 from 7-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 7 from 10-11:30 a.m.
The meeting itself will be held on the Saturday starting at 1 p.m. in the club room.
The banquet Saturday evening will begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. A social evening/dancing will be held after the banquet.
Small gifts are needed for the event (approximate value of $5). Check your tickle trunk for any donation you can make of new or unused items.
The weekend will conclude with a breakfast on Sunday, April 8 from 9-11 a.m. upstairs at the Legion hall.
Volunteers also are needed for all aspects of the event so contact Alfreda if you can spare some time to help out.

In other auxiliary news, it looks like the afternoon card parties are quite popular.
All auxiliary members are welcome (bring a munchie/snack).
A reminder that Legion Auxiliary members will be providing support for “Meals on Wheels” deliveries for the weeks of March 26-29 and April 23-27.
As well, the auxiliary donated to the annual Fort Frances High School “chem-free” grad party.
And don’t forget the auxiliary’s next monthly supper–featuring roast beef and all the trimmings, along with dessert, coffee/tea–will be held this Friday (March 23) starting at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion.
The cost is $16 per plate, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m.
Take-outs are available for pick-up by calling 274-3772.
The next general meeting will be held Wednesday, April 11 starting at 7 p.m. upstairs at the Legion.
