Land ambulance, along with possible provincial funding for more social housing projects, are on the agenda when the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board meets here tonight.
On tap is a presentation from Health Services manager Dan McCormick, who will be giving the board an overview about data management for land ambulance, which includes a system that helps track where each ambulance is on a map.
Also being discussed tonight is a proposal the local DSSAB submitted to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for “bricks and mortar” modifications to Riverview Manor—board-owned housing in Rainy River.
“The proposal itself speaks primarily to all the health and social services partners who are willing to go into that building and provide services so those people can stay at home and not have to enter long-term care facilities, etc,” DSSAB CAO Donna Dittaro explained, adding it was the Town of Rainy River that initially approached the DSSAB to pursue the project.
Right now they have been short-listed by the ministry, said Dittaro.
And with the minister to be in Fort Frances for the Northern Ontario Municipalities Association’s annual meeting next week, the DSSAB also will be putting together a delegation to speak with him over the funding.
Finance manager Leanne Eluik also will speak to the board tonight about the 2008 audit of reserve fund transfers.
Also up for discussion is the DSSAB’s human resources policies.
Board members previously had these policies distributed to them as part of the regular policy review the board undergoes.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in the DSSAB building across from Safeway.
