“Further Connections,” a follow-up to “Connections,” a book published in February, 2004 to coincide with La Vallee’s centennial, has been shipped and is expected to be available towards the end of next week.
Liz Donaldson, who put the second book together along with Joyce Witherspoon, Freeda Carmody, and Maxine Hayes, said yesterday that she’s very happy it will arrive in time for Christmas, adding it has been eagerly anticipated by quite a few people.
Many copies have been pre-ordered and pre-paid, and those who have done so can pick them up at the La Vallee municipal office starting Thursday.
“Further Connections” also will be available for those who did not pre-order them, as well as copies of the first book, “Connections.”
Each of the books cost $50.
Donaldson said the books together make a nice gift set for Christmas, and also complement Neil McQuarrie’s recently-released book, “Dance Is On Fire.”
“Further Connections” not only continues to outline the history of La Vallee, which started in the first book, but goes over the history of the Township of Dance, including the tragic Dance fire that claimed 17 lives on Thanksgiving Day in 1938.
