Five locals participated in the 14th-annual Inline Marathon on Saturday in Duluth.
Ashley Gibbs led the local contingent, clocking a time of 1:32:38, followed by John Young with a personal best of 1:47:12.
Bob Tkachuk came in at 1:56:28, which included a crash at the 26-mile mark, while Armand Jourdain Sr. (2:18:10) skated his wife, Lavanna Fox, to her personal best time of 2:18:12.
The event attracted just under 3,000 skaters in professional, master, elite, and recreational divisions.
The full marathon was won by Julian Rivera in a blistering time of 59:36, which translates to a 26.1 m.p.h. pace.
The event included a half- and a full- marathon course, nearly identical to the Grandma’s marathon route, from Two Harbors into Duluth.
Next year’s race will be held on Sept. 11 and the local group is hoping more participants from this area will come on board.
