Manitou Forest Products is starting to get that look about them again.
It’s the look that champions get when things start clicking on all levels.
Ahmadou Idrissou rocketed home a pair of goals as Manitou got past International Travel Services 3-1 in Borderland Soccer League play this past Monday at the Struchan Gilson Memorial Soccer Pitch.
Idrissou, who has led the league in goals the past three years, rifled home his third and fourth of the season to tie teammate Marlon Douglas for the league lead.
All of Idrissou’s tallies have come in his past two games and helped fuel a season-high three-game winning streak for Manitou (4-4), who moved into a tie for second with ITS (4-5) with one game in hand.
Josh Nussbaumer had his first of the season to account for the other goal for Manitou, while James Pavier and Chris Sinclair shared chores in net.
Cam Gobeil connected for his first of the campaign for the lone reply by ITS, which has lost two in a row and three of its last four.
Tyler Hamm and Britt Green split time between the pipes in the defeat.
In the women’s division, the La Place Rendez-Vous U18 Voyageurs are in unfamiliar territory after what up until recently had been a thoroughly impressive start to their season.
The defending champion Voyageurs (7-2) are facing their first losing streak of the season after losing by forfeit to second-place Al’s Racquet Stringing (4-5) on Monday.
Only five players made it out for the Vous, two short of the minimum seven required, giving Al’s its second win in a row.
In games last night, the Vous faced last-place Taggs/Source for Sports (2-6) in the women’s category, while the first-place Voyageurs men’s team (5-2) squared off with last-place Pharmasave (2-5).
Scores were unavailable at press time.
Tonight, the only game will be in the men’s division, as Pharmasave challenges ITS at 7 p.m.
