Press Release
Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath released a statement following last week’s announcement that Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell (NDP) is not seeking re-election in 2018.
“On behalf of the entire NDP team, I want to thank Sarah Campbell for her incredible work over the years-for all she brought to our caucus, and for all she gave to people in the communities of Kenora-Rainy River,” Horwath said.
“We congratulate Sarah on the wonderful news that she and her partner are expecting their second child, and we wish her all the best.”
Horwath said Campbell is a force of determination in the legislature.
“She believes that it’s the job of the provincial government to ensure that all Ontarians have access to excellent health care, no matter where they choose to make their home, and she’s fought to deliver on that principle,” Horwath lauded.
“She took a passionate stand on the need to expand the Northern Health Care Travel Grant and, through her efforts, Sarah has brought health-care services like dialysis closer to Kenora-Rainy River families,” she added..
Horwath also noted Campbell was instrumental in the fight to keep the Experimental Lakes Area open.
“Sarah will continue her work as an MPP and an important member of my team until the election in June, and I know that we can count on her to continue to deliver on things that matter,” Horwath added.
“She’ll continue her work to improve access to seniors’ housing in her region, push for better winter highway maintenance to keep drivers safe, and fight for the completion of the Highway 17 twinning project.”
