Colin Hewitt easily won the third race of the Rendezvous Yacht Club’s Fall Series on July 29.
Hewitt’s “Ariba” took first place for the ‘B’ Fleet on a windward/leeward course with southwest winds blowing about 10 miles per hour.
Hewitt’s corrected time of 37:47 was well ahead of his next competitor, Bob Algie’s “Imagine,” which finished in 39:25.
The race for third place was very close with only 30 seconds separating the third-, fourth-, and fifth-place boats.
Roger Ysen’s “In Tune” took first place in the ‘A’ fleet with a time of 40:29. Jaz Spencer’s “Beagle” took second in a time of 40:41 while Quinn McCarthy’s “Surprise” finished third in 40:59.
Meanwhile, on July 22 Algie took top honours. He won in light air, finishing with a corrected time of 47:03. Finishing just 18 seconds behind him was McCarthy, who took first place in the ‘A’ fleet.
Placing second in the ‘A’ fleet was Jack Bartlett aboard “Mad Hatter.”
