‘Green Scene’ to be focus of horticulturists

On Jan. 27, the Fort Frances Horticultural Society held a directors’ meeting at the Heritage Depot (old CN station), with 16 people in attendance.
This year, our focus will be on the “green scene.”
Programs will include “Weeds we love to hate,” Hosta Virus X,” “Tree and shrub gardens,” “Saving your rain for a sunny day,” “Entryway planting,” and “Tool time.”
A bog walk also is proposed for 2008, as well as a visit to the Manitou Mounds. Other activities will continue, culminating in a potluck.
The annual Flower and Garden Show will be held Aug. 6-7 at the Heritage Depot.
We look forward to community involvement, and will continue to work on our four sites around town.
New members are always welcome, as are casual visitors who wish to learn more from our programs. Our knowledge base is immense, and we always are ready to share!
Join us at the Heritage Depot every fourth Monday of the month at 7 p.m. from March to October. You will receive a warm welcome, and can join a group dedicated to promoting sustainable gardening and community involvement.
