Grassy Narrows man charged with murder

A Grassy Narrows First Nation man faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with a death that occurred there Saturday.
Clifford Kokopenace, 24, was charged in connection with the death of Taylor Assin, 22, also of Grassy Narrows First Nation.
Kokopenace presently is in custody at the Kenora District Jail. He will make his next court appearance May 28 in Kenora.
A post-mortem examination was completed on Monday at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora. The cause of death is not being released at this time.
Police are continuing to investigate.
