Good Friday fish fry was big

The annual Good Friday fish fry on March 21 at the Emo Legion was definitely a big one. More than 350 delicious walleye dinners were served.
People enjoyed the meal, the hospitality, and the socializing.
The evening was extremely happy for Trudy Badiuk. It started with her winning a $10 attendance prize. Things then got better when she won the 50/50 draw, pocketing $616.50.
But things got even better—she had sold herself the winning ticket, so that sweetened the pot by another $61.50. Total that up and Trudy won $688.
Way to go, Trudy. Just remember that “Shop til you drop” is a woman’s favourite phrase (not to mention a “woman’s place is in the mall!”)

Sympathy to the family and friends of Norman Shute, who passed away March 20 after a four-and-a-half year battle with cancer.
Norm was born and raised in Devlin. Then Norm and Iris married and made their home here for many years while raising their three daughters.
Norm and Iris then built their dream home on Reef Point.
Norm’s battle with cancer was a long road for him and all those close to him. There were high hopes at times that he had beaten the disease, only to have another disappointing medical report.
The last few months saw Norm and his loving family have to experience many painful and challenging days.
Norm will be remembered as a strong man, with a big smile and a sense of humour, but most importantly a love for his wife and his three daughters, Andrea, Angela, and Amy.
Many family members, friends, and co-workers will feel a big loss in their lives. But he certainly will never be forgotten.
