Good Friday fish fry slated at Emo Legion

Once again, the Emo Legion will host its annual Good Friday fish fry. The delicious walleye meal always is a good place to go for good food, as well as a good visit with friends and folks you may not see very often. The meal cost $12 for adults and is free for thos six and under. Take-out orders can be picked up until 4 p.m. on April 6.

Last Wednesday’s cribbage winners at the Emo Legion were Mary Gavin and Elder Jack, with the low being taken by Miles Kinnear and Jane Allan. Jane Allan also won the draw prize. A reminder the next dance at the Emo Legion dance is scheduled for Saturday, April 7.

A meeting regarding the impact of the Clean Water Act on district producers will be held Monday, April 2 at 7 p.m. at the Morley municipal office. Chris Attema, who has work experience with both the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Niagara Conservation Authority, will be the guest speaker.

The dinner and auction for Arie and Audrey Borger is coming up this Saturday (March 31) at the Devlin Hall. It will feature a ham and turkey dinner, plus entertainment. The cost is $15/person or $25/couple. A silent auction will be held. If you have an item to donate, call Kim at 487-9914 or Lori Ann 482-1002. This “act of caring” is to help raise funds for the Borgers due to his injury from a severe fall several months ago.

The Rainy River Cattlemen’s Association will hold its annual spring cattle sale on Saturday, April 28 at the Stratton sales barn.

I will not have any news in the Times for the three weeks, I’m leaving today to visit Travis and Sara (my son and his wife) in London, Ont., then I’m home on April 10 before heading off to Lauflin for five days.

Robin’s 2¢: At Sunday School, they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam’s ribs. Later in the week, his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill. “Johnny, what is the matter?” she asked him. Little Johnny replied, “I have pain in my side. I think I’m going to have a wife.”
