Godin/Salvador tops at bass tourney

Bill Godin and Mike Salvador, two well-known anglers, won big over the weekend at a two-day bass tournament featuring 200 teams at Sturgeon Bay, Wis.
When Bill left for the tourney, his hope was to finish in the top 10, so he far exceeded that hope.
The first day saw Godin and Salvador set a new record for total weight caught on Day One—29.02 pounds. Their two-day weight total was 56.77 pounds (2.75 pounds better than the second-place winner).
The pair took the top prize of a Ranger Bass Boat with a 225 h.p. motor, plus $10,000 in cash.
Three other Canadian teams competed, including Norm and Dave Lindsay (placing fifth) and Jeff Gustafson and Dave Bennett (placing seventh).
Godin said they had a very good days pre-fishing, and that there were some very rough waters (five- to six-foot swells) for all anglers to contend with over the weekend.
Godin, who competed in this tourney four years ago, said it was a well-run and enjoyable tourney, and definitely a good start to his busy fishing summer. Godin will fish in eight other tournaments this summer and fall, with the next one being the Emo Walleye Classic on May 30-31.
Congratulations Bill and Mike on your impressive win. You do our community proud.

A clean-up day didn’t take place last year.

Robin’s 2¢:
A little boy was caught swearing by his teacher.
“Jeffrey, you shouldn’t use that kind of language,” she said. “Where did you hear it?”
“My daddy said it,” he replied.
“Well, it doesn’t matter,” explained the teacher. “You don’t know even what it means.”
“I do, so!” Jeffrey corrected. “It means the car won’t start.”
