Fire hazard on rise here

Staff

No new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon but there was one on Tuesday.
Dryden Fire #10 was a roadside grass fire along the Trans-Canada Highway east of Dinorwic.
It is now “out.”
The only active fire in the region remains Red Lake Fire #30–a 3,739-hectare blaze that first started on May 22.
It was listed as “under control” at last report.
The forest fire hazard varies from a “high” hazard in the Dryden District, areas of “moderate” hazard in the Kenora, Fort Frances, Thunder Bay, and Nipigon districts, to “low” in the Red Lake and Sioux Lookout districts.
