Fire hazard ‘high’ to ‘extreme’ here

Four new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.
Nipigon Fire #7 was listed as “not under control” at two hectares in size at last report, as was Nipigon Fire#8 at 1.0 hectare.
Both of these lightning-caused blazes are located between Auger Lake and the Albany River.
Dryden Fire #11, located on an island on Mattawa Lake, was listed as “being observed” at 0.4 hectares at last report.
And Nipigon Fire #9, located southwest of Webequie First Nation, was listed as “not under control” at five hectares.
The forest fire hazard is “high” to “extreme” in the southern portions of the region, and “low” to “moderate” in the northern portions.
