Emo food bank looking for donations

Everyone is reminded that donations are required for the food cupboard for the Easter baskets. Your generous donation and support is greatly appreciated.
The food bank is located in the rear of St. George’s Anglican Church.

The Emo Legion is holding a fish fry this Friday (April 9) from 4:30-7 p.m. Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for children six and under.
Take-outs available prior to 4 p.m.

The Emo Centennial Choir, directed by Renee Martin-Brown, presents an evening of Easter music and readings on Easter Monday (April 12) at 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church.
A free-will offering will be taken, and everyone is welcome.

Easter services at St. Patrick’s will be held on Holy Thursday at 9:30 a.m., Good Friday at 3 p.m. (stations of the cross by the young people one-half hour before), and then Easter Sunday at 9 a.m.
Calvary Baptist Church will hold a Good Friday service at 10 a.m. jointly with the Barwick Community Church. Guest speaker will be Pastor Les Abbott, with a luncheon to follow in the lower hall.
Easter Sunday service will be at the regular time (10:30 a.m.)
And the Christian Reformed Church will hold a Good Friday worship service at 10 a.m., led by the worship committee. As in the past, people will be asked to leave in silence and reverence at the end of the service.
Regular services will be held there Easter Sunday.

Cribbage winners at the Emo Legion last Wednesday (March 31) were Rudy Meyers and Gladys Allen (high), with consolations to Roy Elias and Connie Hill. Nicole Drennan won the door prize.

The Stratton Toy Library will hold a tea and bake sale this Saturday (April 10) from 1-3 p.m. at the seniors’ centre. Admission is $2, and there also will be rummage, craft, and penny tables.
Coffee, tea, juice, sandwiches, and dainties also will be served.

The Providence College worship and drama group will present a concert at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo on Tuesday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m., sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Booth College (Salvation Army) is holding its 2004 graduation ceremony on Sunday, April 25at 3 p.m. at the Elim Chapel (546 Portage Ave.) in Winnipeg. Guest speaker will be Commissioner M. Christine MacMillan.

Since there were not enough people on hand for the monthly 500/cribbage party at the Emo Legion on Saturday, those who did show up only played 500.
The winners wereJohn and Josephine VandenBrand (high), with consolations to Bob and Sis Woolsey. Aurise Gerhard won the door prize.
The next monthly party is slated for Saturday, May 1. Call the Legion (482-2250) if you’d like to sign up.

The Steinbach Bible College worship team and speaker will be at the Evangelical Fellowship Church in Fort Frances (across from Mohawk) on Monday, April 19 at 7 p.m.
This is a youth-oriented service.

Palm Sunday was celebrated at the Christian Reformed Church this past Sunday, with the youth marching in swagging palm branches before coming to the altar and singing songs. Later, the palm branches were laid at the foot of the cross.
Guest speaker was Rev. Tom VanEngen from Willmar, Mn., who led both services. His topics were Hosanna to the King and Philemon. Organist Marie-ann DeGroot led the congregation in several hymns relating to Palm Sunday.
At Calvary Baptist, the praise team led congregation in numerous choruses. Pastor Andrew Hall’s message was on the “Journey to the Cross,” which will be completed on Easter Sunday.
After the morning worship service, young people of the church went over to the Emo Health Centre for a sing-song.
