DYS talent show re-scheduled

The talent show at Donald Young School in Emo, which originally was slated to be held last Friday (Feb. 28), it has been re-scheduled for the end of March due to time constraints and students being away.
Students participating need to be practising at home.
Coming up tomorrow (March 6) at DYS will be portfolio sharing, science fair displays, and a bake sale.

The weekly “Wheels to Meals” program for tomorrow (March 6) will begin with carpet bowling at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch featuring green pea soup, egg salad and salmon sandwiches, and lemon pudding.
Card playing will follow.
Don’t forget the annual Dorothy Brennan carpet bowling tournament will be held next Thursday (March 13) starting at 10 a.m., followed by lunch.

Coffee customers at the Village Variety here in Emo have been complaining about having too much sun shining through the south windows. So proprietor Marlene McQuaker accommodated the sun-stricken customers by putting up colourful curtains to block out the rays.

Bryan Melanson arrived here Saturday evening, flying into Winnipeg from Waterloo, then accompanied his parents, Margaret and Paul Melanson, back to Winnipeg.
Paul was scheduled to have surgery yesterday to correct blood circulation in his leg, which has bothered him since last June.
Family members from Nestor Falls also were with the family, but Ross Melanson still hadn’t decided whether to come in from Saskatchewan.

Martin Dam, an interim minister at York, Ont., led both Sunday services at the Emo Christian Reformed Church on Sunday. He is a candidate for the vacant pastor’s position there.
This Sunday (March 9), Rev. John Van Drongelaar from Red River Christian Fellowship in Winnipeg will lead both worship services.

The annual World Day of Prayer service is slated this Friday (March 7) at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, with guest speaker to be Jacqui Hunsperger.
She will be focusing on the topic, “Holy Spirit, Fill Us,” which was written by the women of Lebanon.
Everyone is invited to attend (men also) as other churches will be participating in the program.

Cribbage winners at the Emo Legion last Wednesday (Feb. 26) were Lois LaBelle and Adelia Guba (high), with consolations to Gladys Allen and Rudy Meyers. Lois King won the door prize winner.
Meanwhile, during the monthly card party held at the Emo Legion on Saturday (March 1) 500 winners were Bob and Sis Woolsey, with John and Deloris Kiesel low.
In Cribbage play, Merv Hyatt was high and Connie Hill low. Elmer Haglin won the door prize.
In related news, dancing at the Emo Legion, featuring music by the Glen Hart band, will be held Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m.
