The Emo and District Lions Club’s inaugural “dog walk” on Sunday afternoon was deemed a success by those in attendance.
Thanks to the donations of the public who supported the eight dogs and their 22 walkers, and a matching donation from a generous sponsor, the club raised $1,473 for the Dog Guides of Canada.
Thanks goes out to Jo Woolsey, who organized the event, the Lions who worked, walked, and brought out their dogs, and to everyone for their interest and support.
One of the purposes of the walk was to raise awareness of the dog guide program and the incredible need for support dogs across the country. Several times, people stopped the walkers to ask what the event was about.
For more information about the program, check out www.facebook.com/LFCDogGuides/
I hope to see even more people and dogs at next year’s event.
