Yves DeGagné, a retired mill worker, is running for councillor in the Township of Alberton.
He lives with his wife, Kathleen, and has three sons, a daughter, and seven grandchildren.
DeGagné is not new to municipal politics as he sat on Alberton’s council as a councillor in 1975-76 and then as reeve from 1995-97. He believes these previous experiences would help him be an effective councillor for the upcoming term.
He is running for the position because several residents asked him to and because there are some issues within the municipality he would like to address.
DeGagné’s concerns surround the question: Where is the community headed?
He would like to respond to this question in terms of the roads, the loss of jobs in the area, and the loss of community, such as the school and community hall.
DeGagné would like to represent the residents of Alberton on this issue, as well as others.
