A Fort Frances woman was fined $1,750 and sentenced to three months in jail, with a consecutive 20-month conditional sentence and two years’ probation, on several drug-related charges stemming back to two incidents in January and May, 2008.
Carolyn Fedorak, 60, pleaded guilty to a total of five charges in connection to two separate drug busts—the first on Jan. 16, 2008 at an Armit Avenue residence and the second on May 30, 2008 at a Second Street East residence.
Justice E.W. Stach sentenced Fedorak to 90 days’ imprisonment for breach of undertaking.
This is to be followed by a 20-month conditional sentence for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, followed by two years’ probation.
Under the conditional sentence, Fedorak must keep the peace and maintain good behaviour, appear in court when requested, report to a supervisor, remain in Ontario (unless she gets written permission), notify her supervisor of any change of name, address, or employment, and abstain from buying/owning drugs or weapons.
She also must participate in treatment programs at her supervisor’s suggestion, seek full-time employment, fulfill 200 hours of community service, obey a curfew, and carry a copy of her conditional order with her.
The two-year probation period has similar conditions, including 175 hours of community service.
Fedorak also was fined $750 for possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking, $500 for possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking, and $500 for possession of morphine for the purpose of trafficking.
She also was ordered to give a DNA sample, and is prohibited from possessing firearms for 10 years.
As well, Fedorak must forfeit to the Crown all of the possessions that were seized during both warrant searches, with the exception of $4,025, nine rings of her choosing, and one necklace of her choosing.
(Some other items seized included $5,313 in Canadian/U.S. cash, digital cameras, scales, 40-50 needles, pepper spray, and narcotics).
In other court news, charges were withdrawn against Ryan Lennstrom and Donna Shoemaker of Devlin.
They had been charged Aug. 7 with one count of production of marijuana and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
