Woman arrested on drug charges

An International Falls woman was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) after a search of her residence Monday detected illegal substances.
The 23-year-old, a resident of Fourth Avenue, was arrested Monday at 4:38 p.m. after a narcotics search warrant was executed at her shared
residence, according to a criminal complaint.
Police found a light bulb that was drilled out to make a smoking pipe—the type of which is commonly used for smoking methamphetamine.
The bulb was found in a cardboard box of dirty clothes in a bedroom. It was tested and showed trace amounts of meth.
Police also found one intact and two partially-smoked marijuana cigarettes in a cigarette pack in the living room.
According to the complaint, the woman told police the partial marijuana cigarettes belonged to her. She denied smoking or selling meth, a police report said.
Two bags of garbage also were searched, revealing numerous drilled-out light bulbs that appeared to be used for smoking meth. The police report said the residence was extremely dirty.
A minor female who was present during the search, and another who was at a neighbour’s house at that time, also were removed, the report said. They were taken to the hospital for methamphetamine and medical checks by a doctor.
The findings said they were both unclean, and the youngest was badly-infested with head lice and hadn’t bathed in at least a week.
A notice of 72-hour police, health and welfare hold was filled out on the children and they later were taken to the woman’s mother’s residence, the police report said.
If convicted, the woman could receive up to five years and a fine up to $10,000 (U.S.)
