Wolf posters available at Voyageurs

Join Voyageurs National Park in recognizing U.S. National Wolf Awareness Week on Oct. 17-23.
The 2004 Wolf Awareness Week posters are available at the Rainy Lake Visitor Center, located just east of International Falls, while supplies last.
The visitor center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
These free educational posters are perfect for schools, libraries, nature centres, or any person interested in learning more about wolf populations around the region and the U.S.
Derek C. Wicks’ painting, entitled “Along the River’s Edge,” was selected for the Upper Great Lakes Region poster. Diane Versteeg’s work featuring Mexican Gray Wolves was selected for the national poster.
Voyageurs National Park supports an estimated six gray wolf packs, including between 40-55 wolves.
The park has worked with local educators to develop travelling education trunks and lesson plans that help students to learn about wolf adaptations, their role in food chains, the wolf’s life cycle, and wolf pack structure and communication.
