Wilson crowned fair queen

Sis Wilson of Barwick cried tears of joy when she was crowned the 2002 Emo Fair Queen at the Emo/La Vallee Community Centre on Thursday night.
The standing-room only crowd clapped wildly when 2001 Fair Queen Kelly Neilson put the crown on Wilson’s head.
Krista Kellar was named First Princess while Brandy Hyatt was Second Princess. Jade Allan was named Miss Congeniality—the only category voted on by the six contestants themselves.
“It was very, very, very close,” said pageant chairperson Lucinda Meyers. “The [lead] waffled back and forth between categories. I’ve never seen it so close.”
Wilson tied for first place with Hyatt in the banner competition, secured third place in the fashion category, second for her float, and third in the entertainment segment for her dance routine to “Do You Love Me?”
The talent show took place before the crowning ceremony.
Kellar had the crowd in stitches with her “Elfis” routine, a Mini-Me Elvis impersonation.
Fair Queen responsibilities for Wilson will including participating in a variety of community events throughout the coming year.
