Walk for Alzheimer’s set to go Saturday

Create change for people affected by dementia by participating in our IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s on Saturday, June 15 at the Sorting Gap Marina in Fort Frances.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., with the walk getting underway by 10:30 a.m. and after warm up and speeches.

T-Shirts, IG Wealth Management water bottles, fruits, and a free BBQ for everyone! Prizes for the top fundraisers.

Currently there are 240,000 Ontarians are living with dementia and that number is expected to double within the next 20 years.

You can honour people in your lives that have been affected by dementia by attending our IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s Walk in Fort Frances, the Memory Wall will be available for you to place a picture of your loved one.

Our office and myself in Fort Frances have been busy preparing for this day with our national sponsors the partnership IG Wealth Management.

“We are ready and looking forward to seeing everyone,” said Mary O’Connor, client services co-ordinator for the local Alzheimer Society.

“The walks are a fun way to get together with family, friends and community partners to help raise awareness and to reduce the stigma of Alzheimer disease and related dementia,” said executive director Rossana Tomashowski.

“We are here to support partners in care and to those living with dementia,” she added.

Funds raised at our Walks stays local for the Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River Districts programs and services locally, and will help enable research into the causes of and the cure for the disease.
