The W.I. District Museum in Emo is in full swing meeting these days and directing tourists to their fishing grounds in the Nestor Falls and Clearwater Lake area.
Nathalie Donaldson is the Sunset Country tourism guide this year. Whatever you wish to know, the 17-year-old is capable of giving out that information. And with her wide smile, she is a great conversationist.
Donaldson, who will be entering Grade 12 at Fort Frances High School this fall, lives in Burriss with her parents and four siblings. She is in 4-H, presently has completed 12 projects, and knows the cattle business—especially showmanship when it comes to exhibiting at our local annual fall fair.
She also is interested in creative writing.
Meanwhile, Suzanne Soucy is the museum curator this summer. A local young lady who has just completed her first year of college at the Toronto School of Business in Thunder Bay (with one year left), she makes sure all items are properly catalogued.
Soucy also is taking the Massage Therapy Program and after completing her studies, she will be taking the board exams to become a Registered Massage Therapist.
She hopes one day having her own business in this area.
Soucy also has done volunteer work for the annual “Relay for Life” cancer fundraiser and is involved in home care services.
Both young ladies are knowledgeable to guide visitors through the museum, explaining what each item is all about and where it came from, as well as hand out tourist literature.
