Voyageurs to show different movie

Come rendez-vous for a Family Movie Day this Sunday (Jan. 15) from 2-4 p.m. at the Rainy Lake Visitor Center of Voyageurs National Park.
Refreshments and popcorn will be provided.
We apologize that the movie “Alone in the Wilderness,” announced earlier, is not available for viewing. The park will show that movie, along with one about wolves, on Feb. 26.
Instead, this Sunday the park will show the family movie, “A Cry in the Wild” (rated PG).
Recommended for ages six and up, “A Cry in the Wild” follows the survival of young Brian Robeson who finds himself alone in the remote Canadian wilderness after the plane he was in makes an emergency landing on a lake.
When the plane goes through the ice, Brian must make the wilderness his home. Equipped with nothing more than a hatchet and his ingenuity, he must learn to survive.
The movie is based on Gary Paulsen’s Newbery Award-winning novel, “Hatchet.”
Visitors are encouraged to come early to browse through the museum and bookstore, check out the new winter displays in the interactive area, try snowshoeing or skiing, or enjoy a cup of hot cocoa before the movie begins.
