Volunteers needed for Kraft vote

As voting day nears for the Fort Frances Curling Club’s bid against a new outdoor track in Dryden in the “Kraft Celebration Tour,” volunteers are being sought to help man the computers at 10 voting locations around town on Friday.
“We’re looking for people to help us out with that, especially for high school students who are in need of their volunteers hours,” said Fort Frances Curling Club member Patrick Briere, who submitted the bid along with fellow member Ron Silver.
“Without the bodies at some of these locations, we will have some issues as the staff at places like Boston Pizza and From the Grind Up will be busy doing their own job,” he stressed.
Those interested in volunteering can call the curling club at 274-6667 or Briere at 276-2293.
The Fort Frances Curling Club, La Place Rendez-Vous, McDonald’s, Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre, Fort Frances Museum, the local Chamber of Commerce office, and Wilson’s Business Solutions also will have computers in their locations, where people can vote during their respective business hours.
“We have had some great support from the library and Confederation College to provide us with some extra laptops for Friday,” Briere noted.
The “Kraft Celebration Tour” vote, to be conducted online on the tour’s official website, will run for 24 hours starting Friday (July 19) at 11 a.m.
The winning bid, which will be announced next Monday evening during TSN’s SportsCentre, will receive $25,000 and host a live taping of SportsCentre next month.
If successful, the curling club will use the funding towards its geothermal project.
