With plans now underway for its July 1 celebrations, Chapple’s rec committee now is looking for volunteers to help make the day a success.
“The more, the merrier because the more we have means the more things we can do,” said Crystal Gray, Chapple’s deputy clerk/treasurer.
Planning for the Canada Day celebrations already is underway following the rec committee’s monthly meeting this past Monday.
Events and activities slated so far include a parade of cars and trucks, a fastball tournament, beer garden, children’s games and parade, horseshoes, skateboard event, sawdust pile, and water balloons.
“We’re looking for various people to help with the parades and run the games or to help with the games because at some point during the day, there’s going to be an hour or two of kid games,” Gray noted.
“We’ve got a canteen that goes all day and so we need some volunteers to help out with the cooking and the selling of the food and the canteen stuff.
“Right now everything is in the beginner’s stage and basically it can’t happen without the volunteers,” she stressed.
“We hope to make the event as good as it can possibly be.”
