Organizers of the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, which runs July 22-28, are looking for several individuals to help co-ordinate volunteers and put up the tent.
“We’re looking for people to share the load of working with the volunteers,” FFCBC chairman Jim Cumming said this morning.
“It’s a big responsibility . . . [but] no one is expected to be there 20 hours a day for 12 days,” he noted, though noting a “team leader” is required on-site from about 5 a.m.-1:30 a.m.
He explained the burden of taking on the substantial task would be lessened if a few volunteers stepped up to the plate.
Cumming also stressed volunteers are needed to help put up and take down the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina, under which many of the activities will take place.
“It’s a big job,” he remarked, noting at least six pieces have to be sewn together before the impressive tent even can be erected.
“I’m told it takes 10 people about two-and-a-half to three hours to get the sewing done,” he noted.
Cumming hopes to begin laying out the tent pieces around 7:30 a.m. on July 19 and to have it raised by mid-afternoon.
Anyone willing to lend a hand in putting up the tent, or assisting in co-ordinating the volunteers, is asked to contact Cumming at 274-5373 or call the FFCBC office at 274-0316.
