Volunteer trail-clearing planned

Help make the trail system in Voyageurs National Park safer and more enjoyable by volunteering to clear trails during the weekend of Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
At the same time, explore the park, meet new people, and have fun!
Crews guided by experienced volunteer leaders will clear sections of the Kab-Ash and Blind Ash Bay Trails on Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30.
All trail work will be done with hand tools, so no prior experience is necessary.
Hand tools will be provided, but volunteers should come prepared with personal safety gear (goggles, work gloves, and boots) and be physically fit for a four-mile round-trip hike in addition to the work day.
The fall trail weekend is not all work and no play!
Learn more about Voyageurs National Park on the Friday evening from Teri Tucker, the park’s education specialist, and celebrate the group’s accomplishments during a picnic dinner and campfire on the Saturday.
Then on the Sunday morning (Oct. 1), we will head out for an adventure in the park to explore Kabetogama Lake by kayak or pontoon boat.
Everyone is welcome and families are encouraged to participate. Join us for all or just part of the weekend activities.
For more information and to register by Sept. 22, contact the Voyageurs National Park Association at vnpa@voyageurs.org or call 1-612-333-5424.
This event is organized and sponsored by a partnership with Voyageurs National Park Association, the Kabetogama Tourism Bureau, Friends of Voyageurs National Park, and Voyageurs National Park.
The project is made possible through funding from the Quetico Superior Foundation, with discounted accommodations provided by Arrowhead Lodge and the Northern Lights Resort in Kabetogama, Mn.
