In conjunction with the Northwestern Health Unit, Riverside Health Care has lifted the respiratory outbreak restrictions at Rainycrest Long-Term Care here.
Rainycrest staff took several steps to help residents and staff, and keep the illness from spreading.
These included:
•isolating residents with symptoms;
•postponing group activities; and
•aggressive cleaning throughout the facility.
We wish to thank residents and family members for their understanding, as well as Rainycrest staff and the Northwestern Health Unit, for their superior efforts during the outbreak.
Colds, influenza, and stomach viruses are especially common in the community at this time of year, therefore we urge anyone going to any hospital or long-term care home to visit to do so only when they’re feeling well.
Everyone also should practice good hand hygiene—washing and sanitizing their hands regularly before, during, and after a visit.
Potential visitors with symptoms of a cold, influenza, or a stomach virus are advised to stay home and not enter the facilities until they’ve been free of symptoms for two days.
This precaution will help reduce the chance of passing an infection to compromised patients or residents.
