Valentine’s dances held at DYS

There were all kinds of activities for students at Donald Young School here in Emo last Friday.
In the afternoon, those in Grades 1-5 enjoyed a fun-filled sock hop in the school gym. Then the Grades 6-8 were on the floor for the popular Valentine’s dance.
In other news, DYS hosted its annual Scholastic Book Fair last Wednesday and Thursday. Students were able to choose their own reading material by purchasing what was dear to their heart.
Some parents also dropped by to browse through the wonderful selection of books.
Also last week, DYS held its “Penny Power” for Easter Seals. Everyone was urged to collect their loose change and send it in to the school with their children in order to help support those with physical disabilities.
Coming up, don’t forget, DYS will stage its production of the “Wizard of Oz” next Wednesday and Thursday (Feb. 25-26) at 7 p.m.
To the many parents and community volunteers, a special thanks for the time spent working on the props and costumes for this play.
Looking farther ahead, a Grade 7-8 basketball tournament will be held March 9 at DYS.
