United Beef Club prepares for Emo Fall Fair

On August 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., the United Beef Club held its annual 4-H Funday at the home of Neil and Angela Haw.

4-H members brought their project animals to practice showmanship skills and reviewed barn and show ring etiquette. We learned that it is very important to help clean the barn, dress appropriately, and maintain a positive outlook both in and out of the show ring.  We practiced leading our animals around the ring while the leaders pointed out different skills a judge might look for.

We set up the RRCA weigh scales to weigh our steers and/or heifers. At the end we played an activity to refresh our slip knot tying, which is an important skill when tying our animals at the fairgrounds.

The 4-H United Beef Club took time for a photo during their most recent meeting. The club is actively preparing for the Emo Fall Fair, which is quickly approaching, where they and other District 4-H Beef Club members will be showing off their animals, the results of months of hard work. – Submitted photo

After we practiced with our animals we gathered for a BBQ lunch and had a great time socializing with our families and friends. Thank you to our leaders for all your help and guidance this year.

Members are all busy preparing for the Emo Fall Fair on August 13, 14 and 15. We look forward to showing off all our hard work and hope to see everyone there!
