KENORA, Ont. —Two Alberta men died yesterday in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 17 east of this Northwestern Ontario city.
Provincial police said the collision involved three transports and a pickup truck pulling a trailer.
It occurred at 2:45 a.m. on an icy section of highway near Richard Lake.
The victims’ names were not released, pending notification of family members.
There were no other injuries, police said.
The collision left two tractor-trailer units blocking the highway about 30 km east of Kenora, closing the Trans-Canada Highway for more than 12 hours.
“It’s quite a mess out there,” OPP Sgt. Doug Davis said yesterday morning.
