Two people are dead following separate accidents on area highways early yesterday.
Just after midnight, OPP officers responded to a single motor-vehicle accident on Highway 17, about 10 km east of the Highway 71 junction.
The accident occurred when a westbound Pontiac Montana left the highway, struck a rock cut, and caught fire.
The driver and lone occupant, identified as Colin Duguay, 40, of Kenora, was taken to Lake of the Woods District Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police then responded to a second collision on Highway 71, in the area of Fickas Road in the Township of Sioux Narrows Nestor Falls, around 6:30 a.m.
In that incident, a southbound Suzuki passenger vehicle lost control, rolling and ejecting the driver.
The vehicle then came to rest in the west-side ditch.
The driver and lone occupant, Nicholas Corrigan, 18, of Thunder Bay, died at the scene
Both accidents remain under investigation.
