Two events happening this weekend

Although I don’t have a great deal of new news items to report on this week, two others well worth mentioning are the slo-pitch fundraiser dance Saturday and the Remembrance Day services being held Sunday.
The dance will be held at the Devlin Hall, with the highlight being a live band, “Rugby River,” from Dryden. They play a variety of music and are sure to have something for every ear.
Admission is $6 (age of majority is required) and lunch will be served. Be sure to fill your Saturday evening with some dancing and socializing.
Then on Sunday (Nov. 11), a full day of services and events is planned, starting with a service at the Emo Legion at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Elaine Frazer. Both the Devlin and Emo congregations are joining in the services (there will be no services in the churches Sunday).
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Cenotaph services start in Barwick at 11 a.m., then take place in Stratton at 11:45, in Devlin at 2 p.m., and in Emo at 2:45 p.m.
Then a Remembrance Day dinner is slated that evening at the Emo Legion. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. This also includes a Remembrance Day program and then entertainment by the Borderland Community Orchestra.
This promises to be an enjoyable and memorable evening!

Dev-Lynne’s monthly gas draw for October was won by Leslie Bell, who took home a Braun hand mixer and a wallet.
Be sure to sign up for November’s draw for a down-filled comforter. With chilly days just around the corner, it certainly will come in handy in the months ahead!
All you need to do to enter is purchase $25 or more worth of gas there.

Crossroads school is having school picture retakes tomorrow (Nov. 8) in the morning.
Meanwhile, the school’s Avon fundraiser is in full swing, with a percentage of the sales going to the playgroup parents. If you’re interested in buying Avon, this is a good way to help the school out.

Robin’s 2¢:
A friend of mine is just ecstatic—she told me her husband is losing five pounds a week on a new diet.
In a year-and-a-half, she should be rid of him completely!
