Two drivers facing charges

During routine patrol yesterday around 10:45 p.m., Fort Frances OPP officers stopped a motor vehicle on Stewart Street here.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers immediately determined he had alcohol in his body.
He subsequently was arrested and transported to the Fort Frances detachment for testing.
As a result, a 41-year-old Red Lake man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
The vehicle was impounded for a minimum of seven days and he also was issued a mandatory driver’s licence suspension.
The man was released on a promise to appear in court here on Feb. 11.
Meanwhile, on Saturday around 9:20 p.m., the Fort Frances OPP received a complaint of an impaired driver on King’s Highway in town.
Officers located the described vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
Upon speaking with the male driver, officers immediately determined he had alcohol in his body.
He subsequently was arrested and transported to the Fort Frances detachment, where more tests were to take place.
The driver refused to provide a breath sample.
As a result, a 50-year-old Couchiching man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.
He was released on a promise to appear in court here on March 4.
