The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service is looking into the deaths of two Sandy Lake First Nation residents to see if there is a connection between them.
The body of Delilah Meekis, 33, was discovered in her residence Friday morning following a report of a house fire there. Police and volunteer firefighters extinguished the blaze.
A post-mortem was held yesterday at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.
Then early Sunday morning, the body of Mervin Meekis, 38, was found in a wooded area several kilometers outside of the main settlement of Sandy Lake.
A post-mortem was scheduled for today.
The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service has requested the assistance of the Kenora unit of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch in the ongoing investigation.
