Trio facing drug, firearm offences

Early Thursday evening, members of the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, North West Region Crime Unit, and North West Region Emergency Response Team were involved in an investigation into drug- and firearm-related offences within Fort Frances.
This investigation led to a high-risk traffic stop in the 200 block of Scott Street.
As a result of this investigation, three people were arrested without incident.
They include a 35-year-old Morson man, a 29-year-old female from the Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing First Nation Territory, and a 19-year-old male from Winnipeg.
All three have been charged with multiple offences, including three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking.
The three remained in police custody pending a court appearance here scheduled for Friday (March 9).
