Tourism association holds successful fundraiser

The Morson Tourism Association held its sixth-annual “Steak Dinner and Dance” at the Morson Community Hall last Saturday night.
Held to help raise funds for the printing and distribution of a brochure promoting the Morson area and all it offers, about 60 people were on hand for the event.
As part of their fundraising efforts, the association asked area businesses that benefit from the tourism industry to make cash contributions or donate prizes to be drawn at the dinner/dance.
“Approximately $1,500 was raised so we did well,” said Cindy Miller, secretary-treasurer of the Morson Tourism Association.
“The feedback we’ve gotten from businesses has been wonderful,” she added. “People come every year because they always have a good time.”
Miller also said numerous prizes were given away, including gift certificates, a clock radio, jacket, centerpiece, and caps galore.
The evening’s proceedings consisted of a “social hour” from 5:30-6:30 p.m., followed by a steak dinner. The dance got into full swing around 8 p.m.
Overall, the event was another good example of people coming together to have fun and keep their business community alive.
