The top three fundraisers from this year’s “Polar Plunge” found themselves on the receiving end of some additional rewards on Monday.
Jillian Gustafson, Dale Gill, and “Polar Plunge” co-ordinator Jim Martindale each were presented with $400 gift certificates in recognition of their outstanding fundraising on behalf of the Voyageurs Lions Club and other local charities.
Gustafson and Gill were presented with their certificates on Monday afternoon at Canadian Tire by store owner Angus McDonald and his wife, Margaret.
Martindale received a gift certificate from Howarth’s Home Centre here.
Martindale said he will put the voucher to good use in the renovations he currently is doing at his home while Gustafson said she intends to use hers to buy a digital camera.
Gill said he’ll probably buy a GPS unit for the upcoming fishing season.
Martindale was the top fundraiser at this year’s “plunge,” bringing in $1,435, while Gill and Gustafson collected $1,147 and $1,057, respectively.
