Although it is more than a month before the official start of the Stratton centennial festivities, activities already are well underway.
The weekend-long event kicks off Friday, Aug. 1 with a “meet and greet” session at the Millennium Hall, followed by live entertainment featuring “Tumbleweed” (a two-man group from Atikokan).
Meal plans are available for the Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 2-3), but the deadline for purchasing them is fast approaching.
“We want people to pre-register for their meals as soon as possible,” said Colleen Jolicouer, vice-chair of the Stratton centennial committee. “Since the meals are being catered, we’d like to have the final numbers in by July 1.”
Saturday night’s steak dinner is being catered by the Fort Frances Kiwanis Club while Sunday’s ham and turkey dinner is being provided by Debbie Zimmerman and Mary Irvine.
The latter meal will include a production by Fort Frances Little Theatre.
Other activities planned for the Saturday include a pancake breakfast, followed by a parade at 10 a.m. Set-up for the parade begins at 9 a.m.
