The Alzheimer Society of Kenora-Rainy River District is hoping to make Sunday, Feb. 6 “a night to remember” at its sixth-annual “Chefs’ Charitable Dinner and Auction” here.
Plans for the fundraiser, which starts at 5 p.m. at the Adventure Inn, are shaping up, executive director Lynn Moffatt said last week.
“We have a lot of the finest chefs in Fort Frances preparing the dishes,” she noted.
While it still may grow over the next week-and-a-half, the tentative menu for the sit-down dinner features pork tenderloin (donated by Cloverleaf and prepared by the Seven Generations Education Institute), penne with red sauce (Boston Pizza), baked rosemary potatoes (Cater 2 U), green beans and
carrots (La Flambée), starter salad (Lee Garden), appetizers (Seven Generations), dinner buns (The Place), and buns and a cube cheese tray (Canada Safeway).
A selection of desserts will be provided courtesy of the Emo Inn, Iris Gogosha, M&M Meat Shops, and Rainycrest.
Coffee will be provided by Tim Hortons.
Moffatt said the evening also will feature Steve Sinclair as emcee, and there will be musical entertainment provided by local students.
And being a fundraiser for the local Alzheimer Society, the event will have prizes donated by area businesses which guests will be able to win in various ways.
Moffatt said it’s not too late to purchase tickets, which are available at the Adventure Inn, La Flambée, and Lee Garden, or by calling the Alzheimer Society at 1-800-682-0245.
Tickets cost $50 each (which includes a $25 tax receipt), which can be paid for by cash, VISA, or Mastercard.
“We’re encouraging companies to book a table for their organization, as well, so we can putting everyone together,” added Moffatt.
“If they wanted to purchase a table of eight or 10, we can accommodate that, as well.”
Moffatt also said it’s not too late for volunteers to get involved with the fundraiser.
“We’re definitely looking for volunteers to help out,” she noted.
Anyone wishing to volunteer or otherwise contribute in any way to the “Chefs’ Charitable Dinner and Auction” is encouraged to call Moffatt at 1-800-682-0245 or contact her via e-mail at alzheimers@kmts.ca
Last year’s dinner, held in late January, raised just under $5,000 for the further promotion of Alzheimer awareness and education.
