On Saturday around 3:30 p.m., Atikokan OPP officers responded to a report of a single motor-vehicle accident involving a pickup truck.
The vehicle was eastbound on Little Falls Road in Atikokan when it drove through a low concrete barrier, went airborne, and landed in the Atikokan River at Little Falls.
Police and Emergency Medical Services attended the scene.
It was determined there were four occupants in the vehicle, with three subsequently pronounced dead at hospital.
The deceased were identified as Danielle Brown, 32, from Lac La Croix First Nation, Charlotte Menson, 30, from Atikokan, and Henry Butts, 27, from Atikokan.
As well, a 29-year-old male, identified as Tyler Hunter of Rainy River First Nations, was airlifted to Thunder Bay with unknown injuries.
His condition was not updated as of press time today.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
